Seen As A Whole - Daniel Dias

The love of God is fundamental in my life. I grew up in a Christ-centered home and my parents always tried to pass God’s love on to me. At an early age, I saw that when we have faith and believe in God, and go in search of our dreams, we can make the impossible happen because our God is the God of the impossible. This is what my sports life has been all about. 

I have always had great faith in God, having given my life to Him. Many wonder what the big difference is in my life and it’s this: I have God in my life. Anyone can win a medal, but it is God who crowns us.

My parents have always been my foundation. They have been with me in every moment, whether in difficulty or in joy. Many ask me, “Why do you always smile?” and I answer, “So that we know that whoever in this life has Jesus, is happy!” My reason for this joy is this: We know that he who believes in God is a winner.

In sports, we are like a tool in God’s hands; sports is a means of showing the love of God, and what He can do in the lives of those who love Him, to others. Anyone can win nine medals; anyone can be the best in the world,. The question is, “Why me?” I believe God has a purpose for everything. People who believe in God can go very far and become a great champion.

My mom used to always play me a song that said we are a masterpiece of God. This song always impacted me because I know God always sees our inner selves — our hearts — and not what is on the outside. People may look at me and say something is missing physically, but many are missing spiritually as well. This is the core issue: to believe God sees us how we are — as a whole. He sees how we feel about HIm and the love we have for Him, which matters most. We won’t become discouraged if we don’t have an arm or a leg, because God does not look at that. He sees our hearts. This is a great joy!
