Healed for a Purpose - Rigoberto Gomez

Before knowing Christ, I was very vulnerable. I wasn’t a person who was secure about what they were doing. Since coming to know and accept Jesus into my life, my life changed. And it didn’t just changed spiritually, but athletically as well.

Jesus filled me with conviction. He made me grow more as a person, and as a result, helped me grow as an athlete. He filled me with a strength in situations where a normal person would often feel defeated. When someone has Jesus Christ in their life, they know very well that difficult situations can be overcome. If someone has Jesus Christ in their life, they will be filled with strength and faith. This is what God has done for me.

Unfortunately, when everything is going well for a person, they often think it’s because of their own doing, but that’s not the truth. It’s by God’s hand. Unfortunately, we don’t realize this until we are in adversity — until we are practically on the floor and finally realize what God can do in our lives.

I was injured and I was also going through a difficult time with me wife. God was with me and He filled me with faith. He helped me to believe in Him, and believe that I could move forward. He helped me recover from my injury. I think He put His hand on me and physically healed me because two different doctors told me I needed surgery and I chose to put it in God’s hands. I prayed with my wife and with other Christ-followers and, thanks to God, with time, there was no need for surgical intervention. This was not me; this was not the doctors. It was by the hand of God I was healed. He had a purpose for me.
