The Simplicity of the Gospel - J Robinson

Part of the motivation for coaching is to help kids reach their dreams. It’s about the quest for excellence – being as good as you can be. God gives us gifts and He wants us to use the talents He gives us. Wrestling is something that found me, and the harder I work at it, the better I get at it. It’s an individual sport, and with that, you get what you invest in it. If you want to be good at it, the more you have to invest in it. My journey through wrestling has been just that — trying to be the best I can whether I’m an athlete, a coach or an assistant coach.

The plan of salvation and the Gospel is about faith and trust. We live in a world where we do, and we get through doing. With the Early Church, the Ten Commandments were their guide for living. Part of the Gospel message today is that when Christ came, He died for us — for our sins. The way you get there is not through deeds but by faith alone. The beauty of that is the simplicity of it. In order to have eternal life, you just have to accept Christ as your Savior. It’s so simple! Why would anybody take the chance otherwise? You cannot earn your way to Heaven. And when you can’t earn your way there, it doesn’t what your gifts are. Everyone has the gift of the acceptance of Christ through faith. It doesn’t require you to do anything other than ask Christ to come into your life.
